Deputy PM: Peak demand for food in stores over

MOSCOW, Apr 1 (PRIME) -- Peak demand seen in Russian grocery stores on the back of rumors about the spread of coronavirus is over, Deputy Prime Minister Viktoria Abramchenko said on Wednesday.

“We are performing online monitoring of the situation on the food market and react instantly to the needs of regional companies and traders. The regions are preparing at least 2-month stock of food, but peak loading is already over, and there are no prerequisites for higher demand,” she said.

“Our producers and retailers have succeeded to overcome a wave of significant demand and worked hard to ensure round-the-clock food supplies and instant displaying.”
